Jelutong timber for box making?
Has anyone had experience with jelutong? I would like to use it for box making ( sides or lids) and for inlay stringing - would it be suitable for this purpose?
regards,
Dengy

Used a little bit of it once. Quite soft and very featureless but nice to work with. The bloke that bought a half cube or so of it ended up using a lot of it for cutout signs and carvings (CNC) and so on that would be painted. Would work well to highlight other timbers in a box

As Vern said, very soft and feature less, but for my scale models it's brilliant,so easy to work
no problem with grain direction. John.

Hi,
have used Jelutong a long time ago easy to work.
I was told it was used by pattern makers so should be quite stable also.
