    Default Kapok

    I think this is Kapok
    Aka Silk Cotton tree
Posting some pics as the thorns and green hues around the buttress and bole are quite striking imo
    D.b.h around 80cm
    Lovely tree worthy of mention
    Any thoughts?

Does not look like a Kapok to me. Where are you and the tree?

Tree situated at Battle creek near Garnet
Mate of mine is going to have it felled
    Too close to the house
What do you think it could be Old Croc?

I am not saying it's not Kapok, but those spikes on the lower back remind me of trees I cut up near the intersection of Kennedy Highway and East Evelyn Rd. Brain has faded at present, but it will eventually come to me. I remember old Tiny Hayes planted a lot of rainforest trees in and around the old artists village at Battle Ck.
    Rgds,
    Crocy.

Indeed quite a few yards have an exotic or two growing including African Mahogany (Khaya)
And many Mango trees and the odd Red Cedar
