Laser Ply
Hi. I am having great diffuculty finding a source for Laser Ply. I own a 100W Laser cutter that i bought for cutting radio control model aircraft kits. What i didn't realise before i purchased it was the difficulty i was going to have in finding Laser Ply. Laser Ply differs from normal ply in that it must be A grade veneer for each veneer and core, and interior grade glue. The thickness i need is 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm and 6mm. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Bob

Mr Ply & Wood in Sydney (various locations) used to sell it, and may still be able to source it. They will generally cut large sheets down to size, so you may be able to order at 2400x1200 and get it cut into 4 or 8 pieces for shipping.

Have you given Wesfi mdf a trial run ? It is formulated for laser cutting and might be suitable for rc aircraft construction.

Hi. I doubt if MDF would be suitable as it is fairly heavy. Also i have not seen it available under 3mm thick. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Well it looks like i have no option other than to import a container load from China. Is anyone interested in sharing a container load of ply. I will be ordering 1.5mm, 2mm and 3mm. The quantity in a 20' container would last me 10 lifetimes, so i need to be able to sell some of it. The 3mm is Paulownia, and the 1.5 and 2mm is Okume. PM me if you are interested. This is all first grade laser ply.

Have a chat to Andrew Denman (bloggs1968 on this forum), he imports ply and may be able to help.
