Light and cheap types of wood
Hey guys,
I'm very new to woodworking so I thought I'd come here for answers to my question.
Basically I'm putting together a cabinet which is roughly 1200mmx500x500. I'm looking for a decent wood that is relatively light and cheap, but still solid enough for something this size. I'd also prefer the wood to be available in 25mm.
It's going to be painted so the finish is a non-issue. I've considered MDF but it's simply too heavy for my needs.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Paulownia blockboard. You can get it in 25mm thickness but not familiar with suppliers on your side of the country.
It looks like this:

Don't discount timber pallets.
I've seen very good furniture made from them and additionally it's free. (I'm often down the local joineries with a hand saw cutting them up to make stud walls for the shed - which is again what I'm doing this Saturday)
