Check out Beaverbadger on instagram I’ve bought Gidgee from him previously as he harvests desert Timbers. Think he supplies the likes of HNT Gordon also
Hope this helps you find some
Cheers

I bought a box of offcuts from P.R.Firewood on the Gold Coast, can't remember his "woodworks forums" handle....

Peter, of "The Timber Joint" is also a very decent bloke to deal with. He caters to knife makers particularly, but if you contact him with a request for a specific size he'll get back to you & let you know if he's got anything suitable & ready to go....
No affiliation, just a satisfied customer.

Talk to local tree services. They generally know who in your local area runs small
sawmills. Second is woodworking clubs. They will also know the local millers.

John, that's good advice when you are looking for woods that are grown as street trees or yard trees or at least local to where you live, but woods like gidgee are equivalent to your "desert woods" and are not grown in suburbia, certainly not in the higher rainfall climates where most of us live in this wide brown land. So the only way to get hold of some of the more desirable species is to mount your own expedition to the outback (armed with relative permits & permissions), or go to a reliable & responsible supplier who does all the paper work as well as the collecting, slicing, & drying. It costs, of course, but in the grand scheme of things, unless you are using cubic metres of the stuff, it's way less expensive than chasing your own game...
Cheers,
