Looking for timber near Newcastle NSW
Hi all,
New member here - just reaching out to see if anyone could point me at some dressed Tassie Blackwood in the local area (Newcastle)?
I've just finished up an outdoor table and matching bench and am looking to move on to a simple desk with drawers.
I'm only a novice and don't have the machines to thickness or resaw yet, so looking for DAR and dimensioned boards only.
I'm also after something lighter to use as accents but open to advice there. Have only really worked with blackbutt, brushbox, tassie oak and pine at this stage so not a wide experience to draw on.

Happy to help out with jointing and thicknessing if you can't find what you want already dressed. My machines don't get used enough.

Bernmc,
May I ask what part of Newcastle you are in? (PM if you prefer not to post). I'm in Broadmeadow area.
I would be keen to swap some tool / machine use at some point.
I have a CNC router and lathe. Don't have thicknesser or planer which is what I would be keen to use on occasion (but not often enough to justify buying a whole setup myself).

Josh,
I see your post now, thanks for the DM, unfortunately not looking to sell any of my blackwood, but if you would like silky oak for the drawers I think the two might look good together and I can mill some to size for you.
Bernmc, have you got a felder panel saw as well? In the future I’d ask to have a look at your A3, I would like an A3-41 to be in my future at some point.
I’m in Eleebana and happy to resaw on a bandsaw, reasonably large FB-510. (My planer is only a straight knife jet 210mm so Bernmc would do a better job if that’s all you need
Cheers,
Austin
