LVL install
Hi all,
I am taking on the daunting task of building my own house 3 hours south of Perth WA. It is a skillion roof with the main supporting walls either side of the skillion made of rammed earth. At various points along each of the walls there will be openings to ceiling height for sliding doors. Above the sliders there will be timber clad 90mm stud frames hanging from under 300mm x 45mm LVL beams. These will be fixed to the walls via notched stud and chemiset bolts. My question is......Do i fix a top plate on the stud to rest the rafter and if so should it be a single or doubled up top plate?
Thankyou in advance for any advice
