    Default Macadamia

    Hi all
Milled a small section of macadamia tree the other day which came out quite nicely. Looks similar to banksia but much harder and heavy as well. Assume the folks north of Sydney would already know of this timber and its uses. Any thoughts from those in the know would be most appreciated.
    Thanks Wayne 20181216_143122.jpg20181216_143137.jpg20181216_143203.jpg

    Thanks Kidbee
If this site is correct and I've no reason to doubt it, then maca wood is almost twice as hard as myrtle. Don't know how it grows in tropical climates but this was tassie grown with growth rings similar to huon pine. A beautiful and it would seem to be an underused timber.

Wayne, keep an eye on it as it moves significantly as it dries. Very hard to stop it cracking in bowl blanks but movement in well sawn timber is controllable.

Thanks for that Geoff. Its been laying in the shed for years and had split in a couple of places already so hopefully it won't go again. Hope the bushfires are out up there.
    Cheers Wayne
