Mango, Brisbane
Hi.
I'm a Brisbane arborist. From tomorrow I'm removing a large Mango tree in Mount Gravatt. If anyone would like to pick up some free Mango timber, please let me know what you are interested in.
I plan to slab the (rather large) stump for myself. Although, if anyone here is a slabber in Brisbane you're welcome to do the slabbing for me and we'll share the slabs.
I'll probably be doing most of the job Saturday though the slabbing will happen early next week, God willing.

You got anything to spray on it to stop the mold stain?
Hylite 80 Anti-sapstain is good if you can get it.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

God willing it is not full of metal... suggest that you approach the milling of it with a good deal of caution. The slabbing chain can be ruined in one pass.Definitely go over it with a metal detector first otherwise it could be a very costly exercise ...and dangerous!!...if this tree is growing in someones yard i would be very dubious to mill it...MM

Thanks Chris. I know you know your stuff when it comes to slabbing, so I appreciate the advice.
Interestingly, it has a rope ladder going up to a treehouse that has been screwed in. I'll be disassembling it, and removing or cutting around all metal I can see.
After starting on it today I'm considering just slicing thick coasters from it using a rail. Someone with slabbing experience told me mango is one wood that can be cut across the grain and still be useful. Is that right?
