Any one in Melbourne intersted in getting some Tassie timber sent over?
Hi All
When I holidayed in Tassie recently, I made some contacts, and I can get Tassie timber shipped direct to Melbourne.
The company concerned will ship packs of mixed timber, ( or one species ) minimum 1.5 cu metres, which will cost $3000 ( $2000 per cube ) plus postage..............er shipping, which is another $100 per cube.
The timber on offer is, (Fiddleback is in Tas Oak only ) Fiddleback Tas Oak, Blackwood, Myrtle, all rough sawn.
I also bought some Celery Top Pine of him while there, so maybe he will have some of that, but the three timbers mentioned above he has got, I rang him yesterday.
I bought some timber off this guy when I was there, and am more than pleased with his timber and the way he conducts his business.
The timber and shipping will be split by how ever many people want it.
Pick up from Melbourne, ( maybe Whittlesea, I couldnt see us all going down to the docks, or your place if you are close to the docks and can get it home. )
No profit for any one, buy it, and split the actual costs basis......
Timber size, 75-150x 25 mm..
Anyone interested??????????????????
Of course, money must be paid up front.
Need 3 more people to make it work.......which will work out to about $825 each.
These are the prices I was quoted yesterday by the timber guy and Tasfreight.
If we get more than 4 people we can order more, or buy less each.
Cheers, Allan

Geez Al I am surprised that no one else in Victoria has taken up your offer, I would except that I am in Canberra and I am going to Tassie next year.

Al,
I reckon I could be another half. Problem is where to hide the bloody stuff.
I'm going to Taswegia again 1st week of July but SWMBO will be onbroad so my wood/wine purchases will be severely curtailed.
But I suppose I could always say it was a gift. Yeh, well why not. Looking forward to some fiddleback blackwood. I believe there is a sawmill at Cygnet that has lots of Celery Top which I might have to have a look at as well.
So, as they say in Nepal. Jani Ho! (lets go)
