    Hi Neil
bow size 50 mm x 30 mm but would take wider board if thats helps eg: 50 x 150 or 200 straight grain not knots and prefered no grain runoff on width or thickness, could even have sap wood run down length on width and heart wood other side, or even some Lancewood cheers Mac

Not sure what lengths of Brigalow I have, probably only 1m odd. I have some Osage Orange 50mm board slabs I was making a rocking chair out of, I'll see what lengths I have.

2m is a long length for knot/fault free, have you thought of laminating up the length you want with thin strips? That was my intention for the rocking chair.

    Cheers

Just checked my stack, max lengths of dry straight stuff in:
    • Brigalow 0.9m old 120mm sq fence post (some borer holes)
    • What could be Brigalow but may be Budgeroo 1.3m (hard to tell when dry and bark is gone until I cut it) in log form ~200mm dia
    • Osage Orange 1.3m in 50mm board slabs (ie up to 150mm width, but not all that long).

    Hi Neil
Yes its not easy trying to find decent bow wood, 1.3 mtr brigalow could possible be ok if straight grain no knots no borer , I could splice at handle and have a longer riser for more support.
Let me know how it looks and if it is brigalow or budgeroo, brigalow has sweet perfume smell when cut but you probably know this
    cheers Mac

Sorry Mac, just took a thin slice off the end of that 1.3m log and it looks too light and soft for Brigalow, so my guess would be Budgeroo.

So the only Brigalow bit I have of any length is only the ~1m fence post. It does have borer holes in it, but you might get enough between them. ps I'm not going to slice it up to find out, you would be buying the whole thing, if you wanted it that is. If not, no probs, just trying to help.

I can only suggest as an alternative trying specialist timber suppliers, or perhaps mill yards further north. Another forumite might also come forward with alternative suppliers.

    Cheers
    Neil

    Hi Neil
I would take the whole peice if it was OK as I will be making more than one, but unfortunately its going to be to short.
