Mother Nature Heals the Hurt
Whilst coming home from a bush camping trip I seen this tree (about 40ks north of Bullfinch) about 100 metres off the road. The flat large circle (about 900mm dia) is what caught my eye and with closer inspection realised it has had a burl removed. And was done with quite a clean neat cut.
Given the size of the tree and the region (low rainfall area) the tree is quite old and still appears to be in good nic.

Yep, provided it is done properly, it doesn't hurt the tree. Just like getting a wart taken off

Looks like a Salmon gum. One glance at the first photo I knew straight away you were in WA, in or near the wheatbelt... almost gets me home sick!
Would have been a nice burlAndy Mac
