Mouldy treated pine
I got some treated pine delivered for a paling fence. The H4 posts and H3 rails are fine but the H3 palings were delivered sodden and quite mouldy.
The timber yard said it would all fall off in a few days.
Well I've had it lying in the sun for the last 2 days and the surface mould can be brushed off but the timber is left with lots of black splodges where the spores penetrated more deeply and it looks a mess.
Will this clear itself up or should I try and exchange them before I construct the fence?
Tony

I would take them back, they should not have been supplied to you wet anyway. The treatment on pine doesent really do that much for rot, and it is highly likely that the rails are going to warp like a banana when they dry.

mate, sounds like you were dudded. Take it back. Wet pine will warp like crazy if you leave it in the sun.

Thanks - I took it back and after they whinged saying "it's the luck of the draw" and "you just need to hose it off after a few weeks and she'll be right" they eventually agreed to give me fresh stock when it arrives.

Good on ya Tony,
nothing like paying good money for C@$P goods!!!
Timber suppliers need to realise just 'cause you aren't a big buyer or builder, doesn't mean you want their C@$P or will be satisfied with sub-standard stuff!!I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!
Allan.
