my timber question
can you learned people advise what timber this is?
the piece is about 1m L x 350 w x 30 thick..... Iam guessing Kapur but not really a clue.
If Kapur what is it usually used for? and any other suggestions I could use it for? drawer front on a filing cabinet perhaps?I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

Kapur is a fairly dense timber and quite heavy, with a distinctive scent. Even when fully cured, working it tends to stain your hands.
It used to be used quite extensively for external door sills, although I've no idea if this is still so.
'Tis hard to tell from the pic, but I don't see anything that'd make me say it isn't Kapur.

Looks a lot like spotted gum. Does it feel slightly slick or greasy? It'll also be very hard and very dense. Any pictures of the end grain?
