mulga , buloke
All I can find is that mulga has parallel compression ultimate fail of 40-70 MPa.
Surprisingly , ironwood and blue gum are higher. But what is the perpendicular compression ultimate fail MPa for mulga , dry. Or buloke. It's between 4 and 14 probably. Please send your votes and I'll average them.

Seriously, bloke, I nearly snapped my hamstring racing out to my shed to start my bullsh!t deadly compression tool that's fully calibrated for both longitudinal & transverse testing. Currently raking through my Mulga, Buloke ...etc supplies to give you an answer pronto.

I'm on the case. Suspect resembles West Australian jarrah , parallel 61Mpa , perpendicular 3.1.
Believed to be associate of mulga . Perp suspected to be 4 and is assisting with the inquiry.

Resembles Jarrah, associate of Mulga. ????
Plus which Mulga are you referring to? There are actually many Mulga's, not yet but soon to be subdivided up into subspecies, due to the variation in size/hardness/colour
Allocasuarina luehmannii (Buloke) is also one I have found to vary, although currently the same species, some I have that were growing out west of Toowoomba are very different to those in Vic I've got. The species has the reputation of the hardest timber in the world, and perhaps the sample tested was, but I have some that I can mark with my fingernail from Qld.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

It's the mulga you use for your boomerangs. Hardness is part of the reason but density is the go for good products. The perpendicular fail MPa is different again . A good blade 40mmx10mm was sharpened and road-tested on pigskull and it snapped.

My brother owns Telstra ( Nigeria) Inc and is a barrister handling the Will of your relative having your name, who was trampled by elephants at his gold-mine. If you send the MPa number for mulga , there should be a bank deposit for 7 million Nigerian Mbwakas or US $9.5 million, more or less.
