He's in the US. The new toy probably cost a lot more than the truck did. Vehicles are dirt cheap over there.

How are you doin' THE woodbutcher. I call you "THE woodbutcher" because we already have a plain old "Woodbutcher".

Hate to tell you mate but someone stole the mudguards.

Nice shiny new toy, will work fine on your soft woods. Havn't seen any of those over here. We have nasty hard (read HARD) woods here & the blades would be toast in no time.
Most of our boys use swing blade mills & sometimes chain mills.

So come on where are the pic's of the wood pile.

    cheers

It's Red Oak Craigb. Hey Soundman, I have cut some real hard wood with this thing and yes it will go through blades, but I still get the lumber. And as for the wild Dingo, Ya haten ought ta gamble with them "gronicles " like that.

er yeah i wondering about that. Maybe start of with some common hard stuff like red ironbark, janka up around 1200, then when u get bored with that move onto some mulga, wandoo, gidgee, some belah or river oak might be a challenge, then u got more exotic species like boree, cooktown ironwood, snappy gum..red tingle, bloodwoodm dead finish, turpentine, white mulga..mmmm those blades are thinking of making a run for it...

i have one of those 2 speed bandsaws, the lower speed being being metalwork. If i needto cut mulga or other hard stuff it often ruins a new blade in 2 cuts so i set it to the lower speed, cuts slower but saves the blades a bit,...

i have come across some stuff thats almost 2 hard to cut like root stock grey gum, brigalow, oh and wandoo again...hardest stuff u will ever find...

maybe The woodbutcher outa cable that woodmizer to the back of a boat and head across the pond for bit of slap and tickle on some truly hard timber....acacia anuera to start with...

with the amount of blade dulling sillica in the Iron Bark ( black ) i have ,im amazed the tree dosnt end up sitting in a hole its dug when its fully grown

To "The wood butcher " they call it Iron Bark for a reason
how come a 10mm peg dont fit in a 10mm hole

If you realy want a bluntening timber.... "Fraser Island Satanay" fraser island is a sand island ( biggest in the world i think). This stuff has so much silica in it that it sparkles, not so much hard ( it isn't) just like cutting sandpaper.

Cooktown ironwood is another good one... they use it for bearings in windmills.

Even dry spotted gum will give your blades a run for their money.

Yep. I've blued chainsaw chain on that stuff. Dead set worst I've seen was an even money race between seasoned gidgee and seasoned coolabah......best I managed on either was three cuts through 6" sections before the chain went blunt.
Forced the issue once and ended up blueing the bar......

If the bandsaw pictured operated at a slow speed on green wood then it'd chew through most Oz timber without too much drama - but if seasoned then it'd have to have a very agressive water cooled blade or similar.....bloody nice toy regardless.
Ours is not to reason why.....only to point and giggle.
