Northern Silky Oak
Had to rearrange stock in order to make more room in my storage container for my beloved Northern Silky Oak
The Bad Boy slab pictured is 800mm wide x 2400mm long
Quarter sawn slab next to it is around 450mm wide
Lovely colour too!

That is rare, and beautiful timber.

Why have you moved so far away from me, Chris, you were far enough away before.

Lovely timber but I hope you are not moving that around by yourself just yet.

Tom...I managed to slide them onto the ute
Have to admit...the largest slabs were a challenge
Feeling really well though
But...probably shouldn't be engaging in this sort of task yet
Was really concerned about the termites taking up residence as the pack was sitting in the yard on the dirt...not good!
Now safe in the container

Jim...you are right
Northern Silky Oak is certainly scarce these days
Timber was recovered from a dead standing tree many moons ago
Provenance the Palmer River...far Nth Qld
Butt log was in excess of 1000mm bdh
The sapwood had deteriorated but the heartwood was left untouched by the bugs
Very slow growing tree I suspects
Bearing in mind it was growing in the 'dry' tropics
