Osage Orange
I've discovered what I think is Osage Orange growing along a railway reserve. It has weird pimply looking fruit. I thought I'd help out the rail authorities by trimming it for them. I'm very public minded!!
Does anyone have any experience drying it at home? Any particular problems breaking it down, cracking, twisting etc.
Does it have large sapwood and would some of the smaller branches be worth trying?Ian

I was given some recently by a tree lopper and it started cracking very quickly. If you get it then convert it and wax it immediately I would suggest.

Thanks Brian, I'll be ready with the wax.
Probably I'll convert the wood and rough turn some of it while it's green, maybe set some aside to dry and see how it behaves.
There's a whole thicket of the trees, so I can afford a bit of trial and error.Ian

Not trial and error, successive approximations.
