Post Who pays for fresh cut Cedar?

    Hi all,

I have a whole Cedar tree (I think its Western Red) - See attached pic of standing tree. It has not been milled (yet). I've been told that the timber may be of value to the right person/business.

Can anyone tell me of any reliable/reputable contacts who could give me further advice regarding the selling of this timber?

I'd rather see it put to good use than end up in the fireplace.

    Cheers,

    Matt.

PS. I'm a first time user to the forum. Please forgive me if I've made any gross errors in this post.

As a miller and furniture maker IMHO there is not a great deal of value there. The photo shows the upper trunk and limbs of a divided tree. Not the sort of thing a miller would be looking for.

Default what is its width at breast height?

It may be interesting if a tree lopper can bring it down in 3 metre lengths and take it to a dump where it can be loaded onto a truck.
It's not that valuable, and the cost of a truck, hiab, freight usually means.... it is turned into woodchips.
If it is a metre across the base, it may be interesting.
