    Default Pin Hole Borers

Over the years I have been having trouble with those pesky little pin hole borers chewing up my slabs that I have busted my gut to obtain.
Have tried a few methods but nothing seemed to work so rang the pest guy (which I should have done a while ago) and he suggested any chemical with Permethrin should do the trick.

So off to Bunnings and I found this product "David Grays Ant and Termite Spray" for around $12 so thought I would give it a try.
Well it's pretty potent stuff and you need to wear the correct PPE but the little buggers were scurrying everywhere and didn't last long at all.

Will keep an eye on the slabs over the next few days to see if it has done the job but impressed so far.
I know a lot of people have trouble with them so maybe this might work for you.

    Cheers,
    Nev

You are on the money here i reckon Nev.
Sprayed some Mackay cedar boards with this brew that were riddled throughout the sap wood.
That was 18 months ago and have had no re-occurrence.
    Best of luck.

    Cheers Rob,

Had to respray the slabs as it is difficult to penetrate the timber on the underside of the slab.
Could always turn them over I suppose but they are stickered down with threaded rod atm to keep them flat.

    Regards,
    Nev

It's all a bit nasty once the blighters are already in there - better off dousing the timber with a hot Borax solution as soon as you mill them - keeps the nasties out and is harmless to us woodworkers
