Now aint this interesting? Im havin some probs understanding this one can someone please help me? Is Erin (which is a rather intreguing name for someone from Iran dont you think?) but is she/he asking for help in manufacturing a jigsaw and coping saw or is she/he asking for more of the information she/he has on manufacturing a jigsaw and coping saw or is she/he asking for someone to manufacture a jigsaw and coping saw or are they wanting the instructions to manufacture a jigsaw and coping saw... and why would anyone want to recreate the wheel when the wheel is perfectly round just as it is?

Firstly... by my responding I have managed to keep your post up the top which means that others can read it... if I dont respond and no one else does your post disappears to the bottom of the page and out of sight... so before you charge around and put up angry little faces maybe the persons just tryin to help you?

Secondly and most importantly... Your post made absolutely no sence... so did you understand that? Quite easy Erin your post was confusing and rediculously worded

First that is interesting because they are 2 totally different saws... ones hand powered and the others electrically powered... secondly they have been manufactured for many many years by many many different companies and are as cheep as chips (really worth nothing in money terms to buy)

Do you mean by using the word "manufacture" that you have information on how one can manufacture their own coping saw or jigsaw? Or that you have an opportunity open for someone to go into the business of manufacturing coping or jigsaws?... Or due to your limited English you mean you want to manufacture a coping saw or jigsaw and only have some information on making your own?... Or have I missed something totally in your limited small post?

So then you ask "can anyone help me" I did... I kept your post at the top of the thread so others could read it... its irrelevent (doesnt matter) what I said I could have just put "bump" or a smilie face the important thing is that I kept your thread at the top.. this on other forums and here is reason to compliment rather than get of with the responder!

Now... from where I sit (Australia) reading your initial (First) post I have to wonder why someone from IRAN (a bloody long way from Australia) with limited English skills (lets say none shall we?) would firstly be posting on an Australian board where the people speak English which they dont... and second from where I sit (still in Australia) when you say you have information on manufacturing something thats been done for many years by many companies and is worth very little in financial terms to buy I have to wonder why the heck anyone would want to re-invent the wheel and go to the huge expense of setting up the infrastructre (machinery workspace equipment finance etc) to manufacture (make) one...

So your post doesnt make any sence... and I said that in my other post!

I have no problems with people from other countries posting on the board in fact I reckon its the ducks knuts sometimes we each learn from each other by their doing so you know?... But not when the person has a very small very limited skill in conversing or understanding Enlish! 1) That you have plans for the coping saw and jigsaw
2) that you want to make a coping saw or jigsaw
3) that you want investors to set up a manufactureing plant to make them

OR

are you saying

1) I have a coping saw and want to make something but I dont have a friggin clue what Im doing so I need help to understand what I can make with it please help
2) I may have a jigsaw and want to make something but I dont have a friggin clue what Im doing so I need help to understand what I can make with it please help

I reckon that she wants to make a coping saw (and jigsaw was simply a mistake). She may have trouble finding a decent coping saw? Who knows. Anyway, as for making one, it sounds like hard work - without a coping saw . Maybe mail order might work better.

However, she may also have meant she wants to set up a company, but I would suggest setting up a company in an area she knows more about.

As a response, and having lived in the middle east a few years back our members could try reading Erins request this way. English grammar is not good in many other no-english speaking countries and they tend to speak backwards and inside out.

I think Erin's message might be turned around to read

Fair enough Zed, but I think that for most of his post he was just replying trying to be helpful. He didn't much like the cross face he received for trying to be helpful the first time.

I hope that whoever it is isn't scared off, and hopefully by the other replies they can see that we are pretty reasonable.

I read this to mean that erin wants to know who makes them, but is not sure of the english term so used both coping and jigsaw.

I can understand the confusion as in english, depending on country, they are intermixed.


My gut feel is she just wants to find a good manufacturer of a jigsaw - could be wrong as usual though!

I assumed that she would skip over 9/10ths of what he said! Still, it did the job, it has a lot more attention now!

This thread is representative of many of the problems of electronic communications (and I'm not going to take sides) -
1. Quickly typing a response (with any of a range of emotions).
2. Assuming what the message may mean.
3. Making effective communication more difficult by the kind of written responses.
4. Questioning the education or bone fides of the messenger.

After all, this is a woodwork forum and Erin is right to ask a question but what do we know about Erin and what do we need to know? Web users need to be more tolerant of Non English Speakers who are at least trying to speak to us.

If he/she's not on the level, let's give the answer some respect because even some Aussie like me don't know anything about fretsaws and jigsaws....and would like to learn.

I hope Erin comes back and becomes a valuable member of this forum, just like you are Dingo. I'll bet we can learn a lot about native Iranian timbers, woodworking techniques and customs.

All fair comments... no probs and its now achieved what Id hoped it would achieve that is some attention to what I thought she/he was trying to get which is information so again no probs

I wont appologise for my long winded posts as its the way I write so get over it then accept it and move on

I do understand that he/she could get confused by my responses since I do get long winded and try to explain as much as I can which means it can get confusing... however I dont think either of my posts were derogitory or negative in any degree that would mean I was deserving of either her/his response or the red from zed... however be that as it may whatever she/he wants I sure hope they get it and continue to post as I said theres much we can learn from others from other countries... and I realize and stated that english appears her/his second language and therefore she/he has trouble with it which again leads to why I tried to explain myself

I did notice her/his comment in her/his sig and thought it rather strange that someone without any sort of grasp on english can have something that obviously they themselves wouldnt understand if they had such a limited understanding of english... so it irritated me so sue me
