Plywood & MDF suppliers in Sydney
Hi all,
could someone please tell me who would be the best suppliers for both Plywood and MDF products.
I need to acquire:
1 x 32mm MDF Sheet (laminated if avaliable)
3 x 15mm plywood (kauri pine on onside would be good)
I live in Parklea NSW 2768, and was wondering if anyone would be able to point me to some reasonable supliers in my area. I tried Mr Plywood but the prices seem quite expensive. (I'm trying to build a router table)
Thanks
Tom

If you do a search of the Forums you may find a few posts with some links to places that sell veneered MDF. 32mm is quite specialised, expensive and would take at least 2 people to shift the single sheet - I'd be inclined to glue 2 layers of 16mm MDF - which is readily available, being standard shop & cabinet stuff.
Again, ~16mm ply is pretty standard at most timber yards. If you don't care if its Australian Standard ply, then Bunnings are the cheapest place to buy.
Mr Plywood stocks a lot of special thicknesses & veneered surface stuff, and their prices are competitive for what you order - it will be Australian Standard tested & true to label, no dodgy substitutions - they will tell you if there is something else that will do. Most yards do not stock hoop pine faced ply either, anything else you are going to have to buy 'furniture grade' ply or buy & apply the veneer yourself.
Lastly - most people would not use fancy sheet or timber for a router table, even if they had tried several designs & had decided on one as 'the ultimate' design, CD ply is more than good enough, even more so if given a coat of stain and/or polyurethane finish.

Might be a bit out of your way but check out Lifetime, they're in Leichardt.
They stock 32mm MDF in plain and melamine. They also stock plywood up to 25mm.Geoff
