    Default Poinciana

Thought I would put these here. Not the best photos but they give an idea of the range of colourings in the flowering of different trees.

The poincianas here seem to flower more prolifically than those in Brisbane, and the flowering period is longer. This is probably due to the true tropical climate here and probably the relatively poor soil.

There are many more colour variations but they would take forever to photograph. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Poinciana is a bit of a pain Wheelin. Borers love it to bits- or dust. Good sacrificial timber for the stored supply. Also has a nasty effect on the nose and lungs. Coleague in Bris. Had to have a clump of polyps removed and other treatment after turning some. It gave him trouble for quit some time.

Also the timber is very bland.

just seems to be in a happy spot for a poinciana , and mangos are rather slow this year (not really) best they have been for a while, if anyone wants to try turning some i am pruning very soon as it is onto the road ...bob

yes it is a lovely tree, photo doesn't do it justice in color, and size, it is pretty large, but will break a branch if you sneeze too loud, but i would never get rid of it although the one removed from the back yard was absolutely humongous with a trunk maybe 7-800-- wide and approx 20 metres wide top
the mango was the first tree planted in the estate 25 years ago, and the trunk would be at least 1700 wide at the bottom, its a real Jurassic mango tree.......bob
