    Default Possibly some sort of cedar or mahogany??

    Images below.
    Located in SA, 50mm thick, 400-500 wide, no distinct smell. Fairly soft, lightweight, minimal checking, planes very well in both directions. Doesn't have any cedar smell but I haven't seen red or brown cedar in person before. Maybe some sort of mahogany? There was other exotic timber species where this was being stored.     Have to agree with Neil.

    I have a piece of A.R.C that matches the 3rd picture from the left, which also hasn't got a smell but is very soft and light.

    I just want to say thank you for the good pictures - particularly the end grain picture showing a freshly cut face. I wish everybody that wandered along here with the same question would do as you have: It makes ID a whole lot less like guesswork
