First post - white cypress
I purchased some rough sawn white cypress pine sight unseen recently which i have nevercworked with and have just started to work on it. It appears (in the attached picture on the right) extremely dry and cracked, but cleans up to a reasonable look with few knots, it joints and planes well but doesnt seem to like the router table much as it tears easily. It smells great when freshly worked. There doesnt seem to be much information out there on using this wood in general woodworking / small furniture and my question to those familiar with it is whether it can be used as pictured or whether the cracks which can be seen in the left foreground are likely to open up or move over time causing problems and therefore need to be removed before i go further. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I received some the same a few weeks ago from a friend. A few with splits like your boards, I would just fill with West Systems epoxy and use it, if it is as old and dry as my lot is, it isn’t going to shrink any further so should be stable. I would not use wood filler as it doesn’t bind the timber together.
