    Default Ppls id this timber

Can anyone identify this timber. It's very light and there is lots of it, for free.

Could it be Juniper? I am looking at the small nodes sticking out of the bark area, I have some similar small pieces I got yonks ago and was looking at them this weekend.

Similar to this O'Connor Juniper - Juniperus virginiana 'Glauca O'Conneri'

Going by the bark and the outer light wood I would say Kanuka/Ti Tree Kunzea ericoides (more like NZ Manuka Leptospermum scoparium but that seems unlikely)... However the heart wood doesn't look at all right. So that is my very un-educated guess

Have you seen the leaves Dan?
The light weight and the bark fits in with some varieties of cyprus but I'm no arborist either. Chances are it's not now that I've suggested it.

    Default Timber ID

From what I can see it would possibly be Japanese cedar which is quite light.

Does the timber have a scent? The bark looks a lot like one of the Chamaecyparis spp. but having recently seen the inside of one of those species the heartwood looked nothing like this. I'm intrigued .... that's some of the darkest chocolatey-coloured heartwood I've seen in a conifer.
