    Milled some 13 slabs out of 1 billet...all BIG!

    Some brilliant compression grain in this slab
    This will polish up a treat!
    Even the colour is displaced by the figure...crazy grain
    I am thinking a huge platter will be its destiny
    Will post pics when it is turned into something special

    Re-sawed a number of 8x8 and 8x6 flitches into boards
    Here's a nice butterfly matching pair
    And on the quarter

    I milled a Blackwood some years back and every single branch without exception was fiddleback...even the top of the tree where compressional forces were not at play was riddled with the fiddle

    In some cases Genetics for sure are at play
    Certain species seem to be susceptible also
