raintree stump rootball
HI everyone,
Just looking for peoples thoughts on this....

Was thinking of getting this stump dug out. Its about 400 high(long) above where it has been dug out and there should be a little more underground, I want to save the root buttress pieces intact as much as possible, it looks like there will be a bit of fiddleback like this

I have an idea that someone said in a post that the gun makers love root stock for their gun stocks I did a search but didn't find....Anyone else heard this?
This one I retrieved from the tip

Root balls are usually beautiful as the grain goes every where. I love them and Rain tree timber is one of my favourites.
Just make sure you leave them after cutting or rough turning for quite a while, as the stresses can take years to go, especially the tropical stuff.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

update on raintree rootball
I dug out round the roots a bit more then cut the roots with the saw, despite going thru some clay no dramas to the chain, just dulled it a bit, no grit, just very fine clay

The bloke across the road has a digger so he's gonna give it a shake maybe this weekend, see if he can get it out

Nothing compared to some of the stuff i see on this forum and other forums. I just started woodturning myself and found that there are about 20 woodturners scattered around the midlands where i live but their all a good bit away from me. Its not heard of much and when i tell people I do a little woodturning their like "Whats that??"
