Rare and Unusual Timbers; Native Olive.
I’d like to think that there are a some people who have an interest in unusual and rare timbers. One of the trees that grows well here is Native Olive, Olea paniculata. This tree has wood that is exceptionally dense and fine grained with a grey colour. I’ve got a few logs of this at the moment and am wondering if anyone would be interested in some of this? More information of the timber’s characteristics is available on line.

Hi Bob, Wiki says that is found in Northern Queensland right down to the Hunter as well as some in China, Cashmere and Pakistan. Is it a real "Native" of Australia or is it just naturally spread over those areas?
I would be interested in some small pieces (Mailable sizes, Australia Post may balk at a tree being posted)
Any chance of some photos of the timber?Just do it!
Kind regards Rod

I'd be interested if you were in Melbourne which I doubt you are.

I'd be keen. I've turned it before and it's lovely stuff.

The Native Olive wood is the two pieces on the sliding table. Although this is very small log, I do have some larger trees here. DSC07094.jpgDSC07094.jpg
