Just remember timber is not valuable until it is cut, stacked, dried and finished. Many people over estimate a tree in the ground's worth.
As an example, I just milled up a relatively small Cedar for a Mens Shed. After it was milled I mentioned the timber I slabbed would be worth at least $600 once dried. The owner who donated it then said perhaps I should have sold it rather than donating it to the club. To this I replied, keep in mind I have done the milling for free, whereas I would normally have charged $600, so the log on ground was worth nothing (actually negative considering it is not dry yet).Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

On the mid north coast of NSW they have log auctions yearly. Good Cedar logs sell for around $600/m3 with lesser quality logs going for $300m3. These prices vary widely year to year depending on demand. This year has been quiet to say the least, so I wouldnt be expecting to retire on the proceeds from your tree.

It is a very nice tree and I think the others have said most of what needs to be said.
To be honest if you have received an offer of 2K as is where is, then that's about as good as it's going to get.
Just too many variables to throw more than that at it.
Good luck with your tree. Just be careful how you store it or it might end up as firewood and that would be a shame.
I'd suggest you get some paint on those raw ends and store it out of the sun when you cut it down. I have seen quite a few lately with very bad cracks from drying too quickly.

Make sure you keep the branches too. Not sure what lengths they are in, but would be good for wood turners and carvers too, just ensure they are sealed well and stored out of the sun.
Now is the best time to mill the tree, relatively cool and still a bit damp. If you have no miller friends etc, it may be worth your while getting a miller in, then stack and store it all yourself.
All the best with it. Ensure you take plenty of photos when you do end up milling it, the slabs should be amazing

Yum Seal it fast.
I can see a beautiful end grain natural edge bowl from a slice off the end . I think I'd have to do another trip to Vicmarc though to turn itNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

I agree seal those ends.
I wish it were possible to get that root ball out all in one piece what an amazing thing it could make one super sized bowl. It could be a testament to Kempsey's past in years long gone with Cedar.
I'd contact the Macleay Valley Woodies through the visitor centre south of town.
Thanks for those pics amazing colour.
