River red or Forest Red?
If River Red then roughly $1,000 per cubic metre rough sawn, green, mixed grades(older partially air dried stock can drop to $500 at times though). So for a 100x50 you be looking at between $5 and $7 per metre......
Roughly $6,000 per cubic metre for kiln dried feature grade. Too scared to ask about select grade.
All direct from the mill.Ours is not to reason why.....only to point and giggle.

I picked some 150 x 50 x 3000 rough sawn (cut from dead lying trees ) for $600 per cube but it still has to much moisture. but worth the wait at that price then.
have also seen some advertised on the net as red gum sleepers 200 x 50 x 3000 for about $17.00 per length at Aumanns timber & fencing . looks to be cut quite cleen as well

FWIW the redgum 'sleepers' sold at Bunnings are pretty green and only good for the garden as far as I'm concerned.

Called into Otto's in Adelaide yesterday and they told me $18+gst per metre for 150x25 select grade. That's just over $5k per cube.
Coffee, chocolate, women. Some things are better rich.

That's a limited view in my experience. Picked well and stored correctly you'll be surprised at what you might find under the wax given time. Of course I have the relative luxury of the mill so it's far easier to select nice 1st grade pieces from the pile.
That price from Otto's is pretty good. Shame that select grade RRG is just a bit not exciting to look at......makes good chairs thoughOurs is not to reason why.....only to point and giggle.

Glad your result was better than mine SBD. Are you saying you remilled them all yourself?
I went through them all at two places. Stand by what I said on that basis.Cheers, Ern

Yeah, I run them through the thicknesser and if required, remill them.
I don't doubt your findings re quality though....I have the relative luxury of picking through large quantities of fresh stock (not just sleeper grade either) which I can then season myself. If I had to select from hardware stock then I've no doubt they'd be as rubbish as you suggest....a shame really.Ours is not to reason why.....only to point and giggle.
