Removal of Large Red Gum - Selling the Firewood?
Hello,
Location: Adelaide
We have a large red gum in our back yard which will need to be removed due to dropping branches and proximity to buildings. We have a contractor organised to cut the tree down (once we receive Council approval) and they will also remove and dispose of the timber.
However, the Arborist estimates there is about 20 tons of firewood in the tree. Is anyone able suggest where we might be able to sell this timber? Just trying to recoup some of the cost of the tree's removal.
To be used as firewood the timber would need to be split and seasoned for about one year I suspect as the tree is currently living, although in a stressed state.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Regards,
Richwoods

ebay or local news paper would be the best. If you want to get rid of fast, offer rather cheap. Dont worry about splitting it either, leave that for the buyer. I'd suggest selling it by the trailor load as well
