Default Did I get ripped off?

i recently bought 5 lengths of kapur timber.

    beautiful reddish colour.
the bloke who sold me it, told me it was an african timber. now i am not so sure. i reckon it is indonesian.
either way, i am sure it will look great when i start attacking it with the routers and chisels!

    but...the price i paid for 5 lengths at 200mm x 20mm x 2.1 metres was $210.

i would like to know if anybody has paid similar prices to me, or have i been sucker punched again!

    regards, justin.

    $40 for a 2m board can't be that bad.

    Malaysian/Indonesian, yeah.

It's mainly imported for decking, which is cheap... but also thinner (<16mm after planing out any reeding) and narrower. (70-120mm)

As Wongo said, $40 per 2m length of 200mm wide ain't bad. You could've paid more.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

    Wongos right.

Justin does it have any other common names? If its 20mm im assuming its dressed? But $20Lm for 200mm Imported Indo timber is around the mark.-

NB- If you need to dress that 20mm size it would come down to around 16-17mm so I would want to pay around $17-$18 for it

the word kapur is written on the end grain. i reckon thats what it is, he probably made an honest mistake claiming it was an african timber. i dont mind, i will put it to good use.

they are all 2150mm in length and 25mm rough sawn, so i can plane them down to 20mm no problem.
thanks everybody for putting my mind at ease.

    regards, justin.
