Good, that makes two of us.
OK, now I'm with you. Someone needs their head knocked together if they are mistakenly, deliberately or otherwise, calling another euc Redgum. I haven't seen or heard of that, so if you know of an example of this I would love to have a squiz.
I agree. Tonight I chose Opal Nera.I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

Straight out of the thicknesser with no other finishing.
definitely from Asia (they came as spacers in a shipment of zinc. Apart from that I have some Doug laying around the shed and this is nothing like it.

cool, that confirms my suspicions.
I am fairly confident in saying that what you have is Padauk.
More Padauk pics.
The pink/red/brown wood is the heartwood, and the white areas are the sapwood. Keep the sapwood IMHO, resaw it and book match it for a nice contrast.
It will go much browner and darker with time and exposure to UV's.I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.
