Another roadside find but don't know what it is
Found this on the side of the road - have no idea what it is but I can see what it is going to become...wood piece.jpg

Looks like a Yucca to me. If it is, I won't clasify it as a timber, or being suitable for turning. Worth a go I suppose.

They do make fire once suitably dried out.... Also useful in mulch....
Probably not going to get much woodworking out of it though...

Yeah, probably way too fibrous to give a usable blank... much like palm.
Then again, I have seen palm, cacti, even dog droppings successfully turned with experimentation and stabilisation techniques.
Also seen - and attempted - the same with... 'significantly short of ideal' results.
Whatever you do, start at low rpm on the lathe.
