    Default Rose She-Oak

    These pieces are from a Rose She-Oak that i salvaged a few years back..picked some chunks up the other day from the base of where the tree once stood and re sawed one of them yesterday...it is remarkably durable,and pretty..MM

    That is a lovely timber. The quarter sawn is quite dramatic though the backsawn is spiffy in its own right. Always been one of my favourites. Sad that so much was used for shingles because it split well, what a waste of a pretty figure!

    The bottom piece in the first pic is true quarter sawn.But as you mentioned the backsawn grain is spiffy alright ..MM
