Isn't it amazing to think that that sketch is 35 years old, yet it is still being quoted?
Personally, I always preferred the fish slapping dance.

Id drop it and use it... but then Im a wood hog
Now look at yer pics mate...
first... you got shiteloads of room there once you move the ruddy fjords that is... and from whats shown its bitumine so its falling isnt going to damage plantlife animals or such... so even using the suggested home method of taking it down its doable with that ground area... although I dont know how far back it goes behind you takin the pic but it does seem doable from where Im veiwing it
second... although its dead? I sorta wonder as Im looking at that 3rd pic there seems to be something green sprouting at its base?
third... how much drama can it be to haul it down it doesnt appear to be SOOOO big as to be an overly expensive job or awkward or dangerous more just a matter of selective sawing and direction of fall then cut the top section away then cut into smaller more manageable sizes, cart home cut on bandysaw and whalla beautiful usable timber! thats gotta be good!
Sorry its silky oak mates and oaks are one of my favorite timbers sure would be a waste to not get it... sadly its a tad far for me to come get it
Of course with all the above I could be wrong ...I was once  ... many eons ago ...but it did happen so its possibly possible that the probability exists that I could perhaps be again... maybeBelieve me there IS life beyond marriage!!! Relax breathe and smile learn to laugh again from the heart so it reaches the eyes!!

looksa like an easy tree to drop craig. you could do it with a handsaw and a ladder.
or stand on the roof and put ina notch for a flitch (?) to stand on while you drop the top half. looks easy... why not give it a go.... ?Zed

Just don't forget to video it. Could need the funniest home videos win to help with the house repairs.
But we're not worried about that; it's not our house.
