Seasoning redgum
Greetings.
My first post after lurking for a while. I have recently built a great table from garden grade 8" x 2" redgum sleepers that have been lying around for at least 5 years and have seasoned perfectly.
If I bought some more, how long would I have to leave them to season properly in a dry shed with good airflow (this just means that the door doesn't fit properly!) I am thinking at least a year. Has anyone seasoned their own redgum?
I have discovered that I love working it. The grain never seems to go the same way, some pieces I could not even use a chisel on, I just chopped at them with an axe to form tenons. Lovely stuff.
Regards
TomH
