    Cool Seasoning Tallowwood logs

    Hello fellow woodworkers,

I have recently been fortunate enough to collect [much to my wifes' disgust] five one metre long Tallowwood logs about 1m circumference. I would like to know what the recommended process is to season the logs - they are extremely heavy - used a motor jack to move them. Am I better off to cut them up?

    Cheers for any advice

First step is to seal the ends with either a wax or paint to restrict moisture loss and reduce end checking. I use left over external house paint to seal the ends of my logs.

Others will have more elaborate information but that's a start.

    cheers

Don't season the logs, cut them up then dry them.
