seat blanks
Hi all ,hopefully somebody here can offer some advice on where I can get seat blanks for windsor chairs. I live in Tasmania and ideally want to source timber locally. Most of the books on windsor making are American and constantly refer to exotic timbers not available easily in Australia . red oak , red and white pine , and many others . I suppose my question is what Australian timbers are suitable for seat carving and where do I get them . I need dry planks if poss , approx 50 mm thick , 450 x 600mm,
any help much appreciated ... thanks Gordon
