Seeking advice
Hello everyone. Some years ago, I had a friend make me several very large sets of bookcases from floorboards we took up from an old 1880'ish homestead. At the time, I was happy to leave them fairly rough and hairy and unstained/unpolished. Now, after several moves, they're sitting in the garage of my final house. I'd like to get them reconstructed into some kind of furniture but I'd like to get them trimmed and planed all round etc so they can be polished. So, my ignorant question is who might I approach to do this kind of work? Is it a wood mill or someone else? I live in the Bendigo area so I have access to various millers.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Regards
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
You need a joinery for this job. If I am reading you correctly you want to pull the bookcases apart and have the timber machined, joined and made into new book cases. If this is the case then you need a cabinet maker with an appropriately equipped workshop.

Thank you.
Thanks Steve. I'm not sure att his stage whether I want it made back into bookcases but I do want it in a form where it can be re-used so, yes, I intend to (carefully) take apart the bookcases andthen have the timber "machined". My question was really what kind of person might do that machining - whether it was a miller's job.
I might ask around and find a joinery to ask.
Regards, Kevin
