    Default Silver Wattle Burl

Just spent a few days camping in my favourite area of Victoria, the High Country.

We camped at Grannys Flat, about 10km out of Jamieson.

There was a group of blokes who were dragging a log behind their Landcruiser down GallowsTrack to use as firewood.

It had been superficially burnt, I assume during a burning off operation.

It had a big burl on it and I asked them if I could have it, they kindly cut that section out of the log and then cut the burl off.

I have a few smaller ones of these Silver Wattle burls from my daughters' property in Woodend, they are a real lottery, some have some good stuff in them, others are just all soft stuff inside.

Will be interesting to see what's inside this one.

Let's hope it's a good score Fred. If it is, the best part will be that it was moments from supplying warmth, just to add to the legend. Keep us posted eh?

Looks interesting there Fred. As you say, many of these are rotting and soft, but some are amazing. Be careful how you cut it, looks like you may have 1 ball and 3 sausage type shapes, so I'd cut them like that.

Looking forward to the cut photos.

    Cheers
    Neil
