What sort of timber is this
Hi All,
I have just recieved 8 slabs of this timber from an uncle of mine . He got it from some mate of his up around Mackay(QLD). He doesn't know what it is but thought it might be maple .
Anyone have any ideas:confused: . I thought it might be silver ash which is a type of maple.

Looks like maple. Not silver ash, which is white. Both are Flindersias

It could also be Silkwood. Flindersia pimenteliana.
The photo looks like a flitch off a straight log..... (the boring bit.)
I hope you got some of the inner bits too.
Never mind, it will still be nice to work & it will come up a treat if you go right through the grades to 800 & beyond.
It has a couple of 'eyes' in it the will add interest.
Have fun & show us what you make of it.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.
