    Default source of miniritchie?

Just notice this timber while searching online, exotic figure in ringed pattern, anyone know where can I get some?

    Cheers,

Not sure about miniritchie, but it looks deadset exactly the same as fiddleback Blackwood which is much easier to source.

thanks for the input, the only things is, i need something real hard for knife scales. So things like ringed gidgee, ringed mulga and stuff. Googling around yield almost no info on this particular wood.

You could take a drive out to Western Qld and look for some but it's just as hard to find ringing in Mineritchie as it is any other acacia

Yup. If people understood how much work goes into getting really highly figured timber - between finding it, and the sheer volume of ordinary stuff between pieces, and then seasoning it so it doesn't look like a washboard - they'd never complain about the price.

I have a small slab of ringed gidgee (~1.5x400x50) I scored many moons ago at price, thought the price was very high at the time , but the figure was amazing and I couldn't resist. It has since x4 in value, so I now consider it a good investment . It is hidden away in my stash waiting for an appropriate project. Many people have requested a few slices for knife scales. I'm in Vic so couldn't help you anyway.

Here is a mob that may be able to help loggerheads: knife scales , blocks and pen blanks LOGGERHEADS I've never dealt with them, so can't say what their product is like.

    Wow
What a coincidence. A mate of mine who is a prospector, gave me a bundle of timber about 10 years ago. I found some of it last night and it was Minnaritchie (sp). Anyhoo, I have turned it before, so cut some ready for pens. I thought it was a WA goldfields timber?
