Silky Oak? Slabs
Received this in the email today............
Hello Neil
I'm not a woodworker but I have timber slabs for sale that may be of interest to someone. The slabs are believed to be Silky Oak. They are about 6-years old. Most are about 40mm thick and range from 1-2 metres in length, with a typical width being 300-500mm. The long edges correspond to the bark of the tree and so are not straight.
They were milled from a tree cut by my son who is an arborist. They have been laid flat on a concrete paved area with spacers between them and are under cover from rain but not completely from the weather. Last time that I looked they could be described as "well seasoned". I would think that they would suit someone making a table or cabinet.
They can be viewed at my home in Hornsby, a northern suburb of Sydney. Please call me in the evenings on 02 9476 1347 or e-mail to this address [email protected]
Price would be on a "best offer" basis, and although I have some very rough idea of their value I would rely on the integrity of the buyer. I also wish to sell them as a single job lot.
regards,
