Spruce 1800 x 430 x 45mm - Sydney
Well, there is an ebay listing for Spruce 1800 x 430 x 45mm in Sydney, and I just got it for under $190, or $2.03/metre.
Hope to pick it up over the weekend, and will let you know what it is like... they have more of this for sale.
Wish me luck... Spruce is ok-ish, so I hope this isn't twisted and bowed beyond reasonable use.

Huge 45mm Thick Timber Beams - 36 Lengths - eBay, Wood, Timber, Building Materials, DIY, Home. (end time 27-Jun-10 17:51:38 AEST)
seems there is plenty more still going. Just note that its the lister calls it alternatively spf and spruce, so it wouldnt surprise me if it isnt spruce but is the pf part.

Picked it up today.
When I msg'd him he said "flat, rough sawn, got stuffed around by Quarrantine and left on the docks in the weather, some mould and fungus on it... take it if you want it"... i.e. very honest.
Same info was in the after sale msg.
Its flat sawn, so some is 1/4 sawn, no nails, but he said 'some has nails, so take another 5 boards free' when I picked it up.
I'm happy.... got what I was told it would be... It has the sawmill/kiln stamp on it, so I'll check that out when I sticker it up tomorrow.
Keep an eye out, if it suits your needs, its a good price.

Mill stamps are a bit hard to read, but I'd say it is U1 and U2 softwood of SPF (Spruce, Pine, Fir), KD (kild dry for SPF is 19% or less) for timber 6" wider or more (Structural Planks and Joist material).
U = Utility grade - Splits and knotholes present. Does not take paint well. Used for crates, sheathing, subflooring, small furniture parts.
1 = 2 x 4" and wider 1st grade (under Select Structural) and 2 = 2nd grade.
