Supplier of thin wood/veneer sheets for model making
Hi, I'm looking for a supplier of, ideally small quantities, wood that I can use to make various models. I'm looking for 3/16th, 1/8th and 3/8th of an inch. Not particularly bothered about the type of wood as long as it's more substantial than balsa. I have a Triton table say but doubt my ability to get even strips that thin.
Cheers, Simon

You might find it easier in the long run to buy a small (10 inch) bandsaw and resaw your own. With the prices some hobby places charge for model-size pieces it might recoup its purchase price fairly quickly! (I'm sure you could find other uses for a bandsaw, too!)

G'Day Simon,
I have an older Hegner Mk4 bench top table saw which has a 6.5" blade that I use for my toymaking similar to what you are asking.
I've cut up to 35mm strips & as thin as 1.5mm, works a treat [I recycle a good amount of old timber].
I bought it off the forum [cost me about $400]; I've seen one other on the forum "for sale".
I've attached the operators manual for mine.
I'm sure I've seen similar small bench top table saws around too that'd also do the job.
The other thing you might do is, put the same thread in the toymaking and model making section, as one of the blokes in those sections may have other suggestions for you.
I hope that's of some assistance, cheers, crowie.....
