Hi, I make the frames for canvases used in oil painting, called 'stretches'. The timber used in making stretches is just a dressed length of timber with one side cut at about a 9 degree bevel, usually about 50mm wide and around 32mm thick (on the high side). Up until now I've been making the lengths myself by running different timbers through my table saw, but I'd like to see if there's a timber supplier in Melbourne that could make prepare the lengths for me and I'll just do the mitre cuts, joining and actual stretching.

So my question is : can anyone recommend a timber supplier in (or around) Melbourne that will saw lengths of timber to my specifications. Timbers usually used for these stretches are hoop pine, vic ash or western red cedar.

Thanks!

Mick
