Sydney only - any interest in timber purchase?
Hi,
I’m gauging whether there’s any interest in this scenario. I want to try out a couple of new types of timber (new for me that is): Quilted Tasmanian Myrtle and Fiddleback Tas Oak. I have done a few enquiries and I can get them. So, here’s the deal:
- Fiddleback Tas Oak: Boards of 100 - 200mm wide (mainly 150mm), 28mm thick, varying lengths.
- Quilted Tasmanian Myrtle: Boards of good red myrtle, 100 - 200mm wide, 28mm thick, varying lengths. Note: moisture content is currently 18-20% so you’ll need to let this sit for a few months.
So, I need an order of at least half a cube, but really, I don’t need all of this. So, what I’m offering is to do the leg-work and coordinate the order. The order will be delivered to my house (I think) and you will have to come and collect your part of the order.
Notes:
- If you are interested, I realise that you’ll want the price. PM or email me and I’ll respond. I didn’t put it on the BB because frankly when I was talking to the supplier the conversation was on a supplier to individual basis.
- I will not be making any money on this deal (i.e. you’ll get it at cost price).
- I don’t want to be stuck with a huge amount of timber so you will need to put a 20% deposit on your part of the order plus the estimated shipping costs.
- Payments are in cash/cheque (I’m not running a business so I don’t have credit card facilities).
Regards,
Mike.

I'm interested depending on price. More so with the Myrtle so PM me with a price. Did they have plain figured Myrtle (quarter sawn?) as well? My next projects are beds but it would be a shame to use quilted Myrtle on everything.

Mark,
I didn't ask about anything but the two timbers I mentioned + Tiger Myrtle. They don't have any Tiger Myrtle for the moment but will have some "after christmas".
Regards,
Mike.
