I have the opportunity to mill a couple of silver wattles. One's windthrow fallen over a track and the other has reached the end of its life. (Their maximum age tends to be around 35 years or so.) The farmer would otherwise use them as firewood.

The windthrow's butt log is about 30cm diameter and the other one is closer to 40cm. Both have a nice straight form with little in the way of lower branches but there may be knots from branches that have self pruned in the past.

Don't know how the logs are internally as silver wattle can suffer attacks from a few boring insects.

If anyone would like to buy some milled let me know. I probably won't be milling the logs until mid-late January. As this is something of an experiment for me I'm happy to try something a bit more adventurous than flitches on the bigger log

Cheers
